In reviewing Operational Strategy, the following are questions all companies should ask themselves on a regular basis:
-
Would significantly cutting production costs breathe new life into any of your low contribution product lines?
-
Is lack of plant space preventing expansion into a new opportunity?
-
Is customer demand outstripping production capacity, or causing premium hours to be worked?
-
Are increased or already high costs of component parts threatening a major product line?
-
Is it becoming more difficult to staff enough hours to supply the Customer?
-
Is production problem solving taking up too much management time?
If these questions cause you to question your current strategy of make in, then it's probably time to give your current Operational Strategy a re-think.
